Srinagar, Jun 12 (KNO): The Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s (SMC’s) initiative to deploy free hopper vehicles for collecting animal waste during Eid-ul-Adha has received widespread appreciation from the public across the city.

The official said, a detailed ward-wise roster of drivers and vehicles was also prepared and published for public convenience across the media of print and electronic as well.
“This was a door-to-door service aimed at maintaining hygiene during the festival. The response from the public was good,” the official added.
Earlier, the SMC had earlier appealed to citizens not to dump waste in open spaces or drains and had set up 24x7 control rooms to register complaints and requests.
Moreover, the Commissioner SMC, Dr. Owais Ahmad, had also sought support from religious leaders and civil society to promote safe disposal practices—(KNO)
